DESCRIPTION
Undated. A very scarce set of volumes, of which the geographies of Lincolnshire, Suffolk, and Middlesex from the North and West volume, as well as those of Cumberland, Westmoreland, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Hereford, and Worcestershire from the East and Midlands volume were dated [1872] from other copies found on Jisc. The others could not be dated, although they were most likely published between 1872 and 1875.
A fascinating illustrated set of twenty nine volumes on the geography of various county in Britain, the North and West volume containing that of Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridge, Huntingdonshire, Northampton, Leicester and Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, and Oxfordshire, while the East and Midlands details the geography of Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmoreland, Durham, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, Hereford, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire, and Worcestershire.

CONDITION
Bound in half calf over cloth covered boards Externally sound with slight shelfwear and rubbing to the leather to the spine and the extremities. Minor loss to the head of the spine. The rear joint is slightly cracked vertically to the head of the spine. Minor mark to the rear board. Inscribed by a previous owner to the front pastedown, John L Jones Bambury," dated 1879. Internally, it is firmly bound though hinges are slightly loose at the occasional leaf. Pages are slightly tone ages with a minor scattered spotting and some light foxing occasionally throughout. Lacking the title and thus content page to the Cumberland volume. Profusely illustrated with various etchings and a coloured map per county.
