Antique Khmer style Lakshmi, devi or Goddess statue in the 12th century Angkor Wat style.

Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity (both material and spiritual), light, wisdom, fortune, fertility, generosity and courage. The embodiment of beauty, grace and charm. Also called Mahalakshmi, she is said to bring good luck, and is believed to protect her devotees from all kinds of misery and money-related sorrows.

Lakshmi stands on a rectangular plinth. She is clothed in a long pleated sampot with a lotus flower belt. The traditional Khmer Dhoti helps demonstrates the ecumenical nature of iconography in the Baphuon period.

Her hair is tied with a bead band into a rounded chignon. She is stood with her hands in the Dharmachakra or Teaching mudra and the Granting of Boons.
