Beschreibung Sadie Harrison writes: 'The Harlequinade was a popular theatrical spectacle|developed in England during the 17th-century. Its story revolves around a|comic incident in the lives of its five main characters.: Harlequin, who|loves Columbine, her greedy father Pantaloon, who tries to separate the|lovers in league with the mischievous Clown, and the servant Pierrot. The|productions were full of slapstick, acrobatics, dancing and magical effects.|These miniatures draw on some key moments in the drama. 1. 'Here We Are|Again!' are the only spoken words, uttered by the Clown at the start of the|Harlequinade. The music is fast, with off-beat pizzicato and irregular|rhythms suggesting the comic nature of the character. 2. Pantaloon's Lament|is a slow, ponderous movement in which Pantaloon expresses his thoughts on|the seriousness of life. The opening bar is repeated throughout the piece,|with additional lines gradually added to create a five-part texture.|Harlequinade is originally for double bass and piano and this new edition for|two double basses and piano was completed by the composer in early 2013 and|was premiered on Tuesday 6 August 2013 at the Silk Mill (Frome, Somerset, UK)|as part of Bass-Fest 2013, by Richard Dunn (double bass), David Heyes (double|bass) and Sadie Harrison (piano). Pantaloon's Lament works in the original|version for double bass (lower line) and piano, for two double bass and|piano, for solo double bass (upper part) and piano or for two double basses|without piano accompaniment. Sadie Harrison was born in Adelaide,|Australia, moving to England in 1970 where she undertook composition studies|with Nicola Lefanu gaining her Phd at Kings College, London. Sadie's music|has been played internationally in venues such as the Sydney Opera House,|Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival hall, Barbican and Lithuanian National|Philharmonic by some of the world's leading performers. Her music has been|released to critical acclaim on Sargasso, BML, Metier, NMC and Clarinet|Classics and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and in Eastern Europe, Canada,|Japan, Australia, America, Lithuania, the Netherlands and elsewehere. Recent|projects inclu*e works for the Edinburgh Fringe, ABRSM Spectrum series, a|Violin Concerto for Rusne Mataityte, and a song cycle for Paul Carey-Jones,|chamber music for Fiona Cross, Duncan Honeybourne, David Heyes, the Scottish|Clarinet Quartet, and Peter Sheppard Skaerved for performance in 2012.|Sadie's music is published by UYMP (University of York Music Press) and|Recital Music. '...rhythm and lyricism held in perfect balance.'|(Gramophone) '...a compelling, distinctive and passionate compositional|voice.' (Tempo) '...this is distinctive, pungent music that demands close|attention.' (The Guardian) '...a fluent, thoughtfully poetic language' (The|Sunday Times) Kurzbeschreibung Titel: Two Movements from Harlequinade | Komponist: Sadie Harrison | Inhalt: Buch | Seiten: 40 | Anbieter: Faboplay Das erwartet Sie bei Faboplay
