ABOUT THE WORKThe Ship of Fools became the most successful German-language book before the Reformation. It is a late medieval moral satire that presents a typology of over 100 fools on a voyage to the fictitious country of Narragonia and thus holds up a mirror to the world in an entertaining, critical and satirical way by depicting its vices and idiosyncrasies. The work was translated into Latin in 1497 and spread throughout Europe through further translations into various languages. Source: wikipedia (extracts).
