The Outdoor Research Atete Gloves are waterproof winter gloves that balance warmth with dexterity to give a good all-round performance.
The Outdoor Research best sellers, the Arete Gloves are among the most versatile alpine gloves available, offering grip, dexterity and waterproof protection. Light 100-weight fleece insulation keeps hands warm in intense conditions, and a silicone palm on the liners allows them to be worn independently on warmer days.

The Arete glove is a practical waterproof glove well suited to UK winter conditions.
There is a reasonable level of dexterity which allows you to handle walking poles, ice axes or dog leashes. Its difficult to recommend gloves based on temperature range as each person feels the cold differently, but for me the Arete gloves are good to about -6°C, after that I might think about the warmer (but less dexterous), Alti gloves or consider mitts.
I particularly like the fit and the grippy synthetic palms which are great on smooth materials such as ice axe handles, skies and vehicle steering wheels.
(I bought a pair for UK winter walking and everyday use).
